A page from Andy’s story, a mixed-race child discovering life in his father’s homeland, deep in the Khu Tập Thể of Hanoi, Vietnam (collective housing complexes).
Built in 1954, these buildings are recognizable by their "neighborhood units," their "tiger cages"—grated extensions added to expand living spaces—and their communal courtyards, where life unfolds in a shared environment.
The atmosphere is soft and peaceful, reflecting the spirit of Hanoi, far from the hustle and bustle of the modern city. But through numerous small details, I wanted to infuse warmth and a sense of shared life.
This is where slice of life takes on its full meaning: each character finds their place in this living ecosystem, and Andy explores this world, gradually absorbing this new identity.
