I made this illustration for the short story "Someone who looks like me", written by Asha ASKOOLAM, published in OUR WORDS magazine of OUR STREET NOW.
Summary
Viran spent his whole life with his nose in a book. The characters he found were his family, but they never looked like him. There was always a distance, a difference. It was never him discovering magic or going on adventures. He was always the bystander. Viran wanted to change that for other young South Asian readers. He wanted to help them find themselves within the pages of a book. For there is no better joy in life than to be seen.
